SHINO — Privacy Notice
Who we are
SHINO is operated by Linoy Bar Gal and Shikma Lerer. For any question or request about your data — including access or deletion — email us at support@shino.app.
What we collect
- Your account: your email address and your Google sign-in ID (you sign in with Google).
- What you give us: the videos you upload, any images or logo you add, the briefs and feedback you write, and, once, how you heard about SHINO (if you answer that question).
- What we generate for you: a written transcript of the speech in your video, a poster frame taken from your video, the edited videos we produce, and basic technical details of your video (length, dimensions, format).
- Usage events: identifiers, counts, and timestamps about how you use the app (for example, that a brief was submitted or a video exported). These do not include your brief text, your email, or your video content.
How we use it
To run the service: to store your uploads, plan and produce your edited videos, show you your projects, enforce your account limits, and keep the service reliable.
We automatically transcribe the speech in each video you upload that has sound, so that the captions we add can match the words you actually say. The transcription runs inside our own Google Cloud service, and the transcript is kept with that video and deleted with it.
AI processing
In the studio, to plan your edit, we send the text of your brief and feedback, together with basic technical details of your video, to Google Vertex AI (Gemini). We also send still frames from your video, which show you. We do not send your audio or the full video file to the AI model. When your video has English speech, we also send the text transcript of what is said in it, so the edit plan and the captions match your words. Speech we detect in another language is not sent to the AI model (we cannot caption it yet). When you add images to a project, we also send those images to the same AI service (Google Vertex AI) so it can read what each one shows and place it well in your edit.
Chat mode
To edit your video, we send its frames, its transcript and your messages to Google Cloud's Vertex AI (Gemini) in our own Google Cloud account. Google does not use this data to train its models. Your videos are visible only to you and to the SHINO team for quality review.
When you start a video there's an optional box. It is unticked unless you tick it: “Let the SHINO team use this clip to improve the product and build a private demo for you. We never post it or use it in marketing without asking you first.”
Face data
Before you upload a chat video, we ask you to agree to the face analysis described here. To prepare your video, SHINO maps the position and shape of your face in each frame (face landmarks, and from them one face box for the clip) and outlines where you are in each frame (person cut-outs). Face data means these files and the log of that step. We use them to keep captions, pictures and stickers off your face, to place text and graphics behind you, and, only if you ask, to retouch your skin. We never use face data to identify you and never sell it.
To plan the edit, the face box (its position, as numbers) goes to Google Cloud's Vertex AI with your transcript, in our own Google Cloud account. Google does not use this data to train its models.
We delete face data within 24 hours of your last edit; deleted copies are erased from our storage backups within 7 more days. We keep your clips and videos for 1 year. The deletion removes the face landmarks, the face box, the person cut-outs and the log from our storage, and blanks the face box in the video's chat history. An automatic clean-up closes a video after 23 hours without an edit and retries any deletion that fails. Your transcript and your edited versions are kept under the 1-year rule.
To delete your data, email us at support@shino.app and we'll delete it within 7 days.
Where your data is processed
SHINO runs on Google Cloud. We use these Google services as our processors: Cloud Storage (your files), Cloud Run and Cloud SQL (the application and its database), Cloud Tasks and Cloud Scheduler (background jobs), Google Identity Platform (sign-in), and Google Vertex AI (edit planning). Model requests to Google Vertex AI may be served from Google Cloud regions worldwide. We do not use third-party advertising, analytics, or error-tracking services.
Cookies and your session
We do not set advertising or analytics cookies. Your sign-in session is kept in this browser tab's session storage: refreshing keeps you signed in, and it normally ends when you close the tab or sign out.
Keeping and deleting your data
We delete face data within 24 hours of your last edit; deleted copies are erased from our storage backups within 7 more days. We keep your clips and videos for 1 year. Images you add are stored with your video and deleted under the same rules.
In the studio, deleting a project removes its briefs, edits, renders, and images, and the source video you uploaded for it, its transcript, and its poster frame (unless you are still using that same upload in another of your projects); the files are removed from storage shortly afterward.
There is no delete button yet for your account or your chat videos. To delete your data, email us at support@shino.app and we'll delete it within 7 days.
Your choices
To access or delete your data, email us at the address in Who we are above.
